The prison department started the testing of new jammers

The prison department started the testing of the secret equipments, which should disconnect the cell phones of the jailers. If the engineers succeed, the jails will be kept out of cell phone network, while other mobile phone users won’t be involved.
One of the biggest issues in jails is an illegal usage of cell phones. It is a well-known fact that the prisoners are forbidden in having a telephone. Nevertheless, the jailers make using them, although 1000’s of telephones are retrieved from the prisoners each year. There were even chances when the jailers attemped to contact the Russian Government via cell phones. Just not long ago, one convict called the members of the Security Committee, and requested them to examine his complaint more detailed.
The head of prison authorities informed that this problem is not actually the engineering difficulty but the problem with legislation, so such cases take place sometimes. As the FSIN director highlighted, an immediate stern prevention came from the special departments, which are defendant for the phone communication when the so-called cell phone jammers were used in some colonies. The governors were threatened with the administrative amenability for breaking the cell phone frequencies.
It’s difficult to apply such devices in the big cities, the problem is that the normal citizens suffer from the lack of stable connection. There were some efforts to establish the suitable jammer in the jails some years ago, but it brought to a public scandal, because the mobiles quited working not only in the jails, but also in the neighboring districts.
Other device is checked in Vladimir. According to the engineers, it doesn't interrupt the telephone connection, but it discloses the phones even if those mobiles are turned off. So the mobiles can no longer be put away. If this equipment has success, all jails will be equipped with those devices.
